Craft Pioneers: Look How Far We Have Come!

Sactown Union will kick off #SBW2017 with a nod to some of the greatest craft pioneers of our industry who made it all possible on Thursday, March 2nd! Come meet and hear Dr. Charlie Bamforth (UC Davis), Barbara Groom (Lost Coast Brewery), Judy Ashworth (Lyons Brewery Depot), Shaun O’Sullivan (21st Amendment), John Martin (Drakes/Triple Rock) and our very own Michael Barker, as they give a panel discussion about what craft brewing is (and isn’t), what role it plays in the community and just how far we’ve come in the past decade.

Event Submission Guidelines:

  • Events must promote and embody the spirit of Sacramento craft beer. The emphasis should be on quality beer that celebrates independent brewers, using traditional brewing techniques and embracing an innovative and pioneering spirit.
  • Events should be about craft beer and presented in a way that adds a cultural, educational, activity-oriented, or culinary context to the beer. Push your team to be creative.
  • Most importantly, events must be true events — meaning they must feature a special, unique or rare selection of beer, activity, guest and/or food component, and are generally considered special, exceptional occasions, not something that would be held on any given day of the year.
  • Sac Beer Week WILL NOT approve events centered on discounts or giveaways that are typical happy hours, pint nights or beer specials, that solely promote ‘every day’ tap lists, or that encourage people to drink irresponsibly.
